Serie A

Seria A

Serie A is the top division of the Italian Football League, the most important in Italy. Along with the English Premier League and the Spanish La Liga, Serie A is considered one of the best football leagues in the world. Serie A and its structure known today began in 1929, following the Italian Football Championship structure. Previously to this, there were only regional groups competing. Every time a team wins the title, they are allowed to wear a golden star above their club badge.

Serie A has gone through an infamous scandal in 2006 for fixing the games. League managers, referee designators and S.S. Lazio, ACF Fiorentina, Reggina Calcio, Juventus F.C., A.C. Milan were put under trial, the federation even withdrawing the last 2 titles from Juventus and removing Milan from the European competition. The rest of the teams had points deducted for the 2006-07 season.

A season lasts from August to May, when each club plays the others twice, home or away, totalling 38 games for each club, and 380 games in a season. In the first half of the season, there will be 19 games, each team playing one time against all its opponents. The second half of the season , the same teams will play but the home game will turn into an away game. Bellow you'll find a list of the winning clubs throughout the Serie A history:
